"I'm NOT nesting; we just had nice weather!!!"

Scooping the dirt I just dumped in the pot...

... and putting it back in the bag. :)

Measuring the sugar just right!

Mashing the bananas was fun. Is flour on the face a beauty secret I don't know about?
Cally and I had so much fun today and got a lot of things accomplished. I was on the move because the weather was so enjoyable! I had energy!!! I finally worked on the patio area again. Cally helped weed... well, take dirt from the big bucket and put into another little pot, she helped sweep... well, just for a few seconds because she wanted to try, but the broom was too heavy, and she helped me plant some herb seeds in small pots... well, she kept shoveling the dirt from the pot back into the bag (luckily, my scoops were 3x bigger). In the evening, Cally had fun helping me make banana bread. Aunt Linda, I used the mixer you got me, finally!!! It's great! Kelli gave me a crash course a couple weeks ago on how to operate it. The banana bread is cooling, and I'm about to go get a piece!

August 2010

What a fun and busy month it's been. Badminton tourney was a blast! Dave and Marilla won the championship, Maia got the flu (not such a blast), Aunt Linda was named "Rookie of the year" and we cooked turkey on the grill! Last weekend we traveled to LBI, NJ for some beach fun. Dave and I managed to get out for a date one night, we ate lots of cake, watched various bad movies, built a killer sandcastle (sorry, no pic) and got to see an old friend from college. Pretty excited for Fall. That means sweaters, tea in the afternoon and raking leaves. OH! And a new baby.... Shauna, is it time?!

Lounging while watching the games.
Setting up for the badminton tourney.
Floatie Time
Ferris wheel on date night. I beat him at mini golf! By one stroke.

The ocean was rough. Strong south-easterly pull.

All a Girl Needs is Her Jellies and Pearls!

Saying "hi" to Daddy and Otis.

A couple nights ago, Cally and I hung out on the patio. Earlier, she insisted on wearing her pink jelly shoes, which are a little too big, but she didn't mind. She also insisted on wearing a beaded bracelet that she swiped from Aunt Ashley's loot in the upstairs bathroom at Grandma and Grandpa's. No pants because she had a case of the trots, but it didn't matter. She strutted her stuff while drawing on the patio with chalk, checking out the flowers, and playing with rocks.

2010 Clam Bake

Nothing like stuffing your face with clams, shrimp and crab legs and then sitting by the fire and toasting marshmallows while washing it all down with some Pinot or margaritas!!!

With the Phillies game on in the background, the fireside was roaring with laughter from all of the storytelling that was going on. What a good night!

2010 Tomczak Garden

Sal wasn't too sure about my garden idea in the spring....and he really wasn't sure about the size of the plot my dad dug up for me. But this past Friday night....he was really sure that he LOVED the string beans from the garden and ate my entire crop (both frozen and fresh).

I was worried about my tomatoes. I had a lot on the stems, but they would not turn red. After doing some research, I realized the weather (high temperatures this summer) was holding them back. Recently in the past couple of weeks, it hasn't been as hot and sure enough...I was able to pick some tomatoes this week!

My watermelons are still growing. I hope they turn out as good as everything else!
