Very, very nice!!!! Dad, you should have taken a pic without the flash with the candle inside for the full effect! Here is the story of how this came to be... We never carved pumpkins growing up; Mike and I started it in our house 2 years ago. It is not too bad and exciting when the project is complete... (and the cheap carving utensils superseeded my Cutco knives! :) ). Above was one of the pumpkins that was sitting out back at mom and dad's garden. Dad was at the Eagles game today leaving behind a houseful of gals - Mom, Cally, Maya, Bella, and I (Blaze cat was outside). Our only achieveable Halloween plan today was to carve a pumpkin due to the weather. Cally picked out the witch pattern because that is her Halloween outfit this year. When we finally started carving, Cally and Maya impatiently watched me carve out the top (because I was the most experienced - lol). Cally wanted to carve, and I said, "No, because it is too hard." As I scooped out the pumpkin 'giblets' :), Maya wanted to eat the pumpkin seeds. "No, Maya, you have to bake them first." ...and this set Maya off crying, or course... "Fine," I said, "Go ahead and eat one," as I handed her a raw pumpkin seed. And she proceeded to flip out even more. It was approaching 2 pm, so I knew it was nap time for Miss Maya. I took Maya upstairs and lied down with her. After some time, she finally went to sleep. I came back downstairs to my mom taping up the witch pattern onto the pumpkin. This will take some time, I thought... Mom will just call me out when she is ready. As I lied on the living room couch watching ghost stories on the travel channel, I fell asleep. Intermittently, I woke up to the sound of a cheap serrated tool carving a pumpkin...'sounds like mom is carving the pumpking', I thought...I'll go help, and then I passed out again. The next time I woke up, my mom had completed the witch carve out and had placed a battery powered candle inside. Cally came from up from the basement to see the finished masterpiece. I turned off the lights for the full effect. Way to go mom!!!! Hope the pumpkin seeds turn out! I will post my carving this week...which Disney princess will it be..... Love you guys! Stay dry and safe!
