more for protection, but the bear was not scared of humans which is not good. My dad threw a rock at it earlier in the day and hit it and it just looked at him! The bear was then sitting on my neighbors deck for an hour or so and then came back to our house to check out the burgers. My dad shot a shot gun in it's direction (not to hurt it) to scare it so it doesn't come around. Henry or mittens would be a snack for it!
